We have had over a month of baseball and the season is almost 25% over with. Its going quick and its been exiting so far. I think there have been enough games at each park now to get an idea of how each one is playing out. We have two new stadiums this year: Sutter Health Park (Athletics) and Steinbrenner Field (Rays). These are both Triple-A stadiums and they are playing exactly like that. Lets get into some breakdowns.
Note: Park Factors are scaled so 100 is neutral, 100+ is positive for hitters and below 100 is positive for pitchers.

One of the biggest surprises here is Yankee Stadium ranks 15th with a 100 factor and Steinbrenner Field ranks 13th with a 101. The left field “short porch” in both parks is a huge advantage to lefty pull hitters.

It is still early in the season and these numbers are bound to change. Offense will pick up when the weather warms, so locations in the cold right now should increase in park factor. One of the biggest surprises was Great American Ballpark currently sitting 25th overall while last year the stadium finished 3rd. The Orioles also moved from 11th to 1st, and some of this could be due to the left field wall being moved in. Last year there were 3 neutral ballparks (100 overall factor): Dodgers, Phillies and Blue Jays. Right now the only park considered neutral would be PNC Park (Pirates).
